Every once in a while we run across folks who wonder what's so special about pecans.  Many apparently   haven't been exposed to the nutritional facts about the amazing pecan. The fat content in a typical pecan is approximately 80% UNSATURATED fat, either monounsaturated or polyunsaturated.  Studies have shown that approximately 10-12 pecan halves daily, in conjunction with a reasonable diet, will reduce total cholesterol and balance the cholesterol ratio in a favorable direction.

A climate with just enough rainfall and just enough heat is required to grow pecans.   In the United States, the best climate is found in a band from southern Georgia across Alabama and Mississippi, stretching across Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico.    There are over 500 different varieties of pecans, each with its particular characteristics.

Much has been written about the nutritional value of pecans. We've listed some links to some other web pages which will provide further information about the amazing pecan  We hope you'll find them interesting.
